#3 Sachiel
Apr 21,2025 | KBDcraft store
At KBDcraft, we don’t just build mechanical keyboards—we tell stories through them.
With LEGO-inspired parts and a modular structure, we recreate emotions, memories, even entire fictional universes in the language of bricks.
This time, we bring you Sachiel.
A keyboard that’s both a mechanical marvel and a physical embodiment of inspiration—drawn directly from the unforgettable Third Angel in Neon Genesis Evangelion.
Stage 01|Angel Invasion: When Mechanics Resonate with Mystery
Sachiel, the Third Angel from EVA, is eerie, enigmatic, and geometrically mesmerizing.
It’s not just an enemy—it’s a symbol. A symbol of humanity’s first chaotic encounter with the unknown.
We brought that same tension into the design of this keyboard.
Sachiel features a sharply contoured outer shell, cold-toned surfaces, and solid modular blocks that echo the look of an otherworldly being.
Sit down in front of this keyboard, and you’ll feel like you're seconds away from launching Unit-01 again.
Stage 02|Custom Minifig: Bringing the Angel to Life
In our community, KBDcraft’s brick minifigs have become a cultural signature.
With the Sachiel project, we’ve taken it further: this is our first fully custom-designed Angel minifig.
Painted in black, white, and red—with fully poseable dual arms—it reimagines the Third Angel in the language of bricks.
We believe a keyboard with soul shouldn’t just look cool. It should connect with you.
Place your miniature Sachiel anywhere—on your desk, your keyboard, or even mounted above it.
It’s part totem, part guardian, and 100% part of the ritual.
Stage 03|The Build: Our Largest and Most Complex Assembly Yet
The build experience is at the heart of KBDcraft—and Sachiel is by far our most ambitious construction yet.
To support a full 85% TKL layout, we used three 16x16 base plates and over 200 sloped and inverted bricks.
Assembling the outer shell feels like sealing the armor around an EVA unit—precise, deliberate, and immensely satisfying.
Inspired by the Type 90 Main Battle Tank, the layered sharp-angled structure radiates a strong sense of combat readiness.
Even if this is your first modular keyboard build, the experience is deeply intuitive and rewards patience with a stunning, battle-ready final form.
Stage 04|Oversized DSS Keycaps: Where Touch Meets Form
Blending standard mechanical keys into a LEGO-style chassis has always been a challenge.
With Sachiel, we finally cracked it.
We’ve developed a custom oversized DSS keycap set, scaled up to 1.25x the original size.
These larger caps not only visually harmonize with the angular case design, they also smooth out sharp height transitions and enhance tactile comfort—especially across the function and arrow key zones.
More than just comfort, these keycaps are part of the aesthetic. On Sachiel, your keystrokes look as powerful as they feel.
Stage 05|Modular Control Zone: When Knobs Become Superpowers
Every user is different—some crave shortcuts and macro control, others prefer a clean and minimal layout.
That’s why Sachiel features a modular control zone with interchangeable components.
You can choose between button mode or knob mode.
Each encoder supports full QMK/VIAL customization—volume, layers, lighting, macros—whatever your workflow demands.
Prefer classic 85% TKL? Just pop the knobs off and return to the essentials.
This is the essence of KBDcraft’s philosophy: your keyboard should evolve with you.
Stage 06|3D-Printed Adapters: Bridging Two Worlds
Mechanical keyboards and LEGO bricks speak entirely different design languages.
To bridge them, we developed a custom 3D-printed adapter system.
These include knob adapters, gasket bases, and connector brackets—each precision-designed and tested through countless prototypes.
For DIY modders, this is a gateway to full creative freedom—mix styles, swap pieces, even add parts from entirely different universes.
The Designer Boyu——Resonating with the Angel
Behind every KBDcraft project is Boyu—the designer who sketches every line, tests every brick, and rethinks every form.
He didn’t pick the Third Angel for commercial appeal. He’s a true Evangelion fan.
To Boyu, Sachiel isn’t a monster. It’s a symbol—of unknown power, of the beginning of resistance, of the blurred lines between humanity and machine.
In one design meeting, he said:
“Remember the moment Unit-01 first activated? The fear, the awe—you didn’t even know what Angels were, but you couldn’t look away. Sachiel wasn’t just a threat. It was mystery itself.”
This feeling became the design’s core.
That’s why every angle of Sachiel’s case speaks a strange, geometric language—it wasn’t made to be "pretty," but to capture the otherness of something not quite from this world.
Boyu personally laid out every sloped tile, tested every 3D adapter, and calibrated every key’s spacing—turning an idea into a living, breathing structure.
What the Angels Teach Us: They’re Not Just Enemies
What makes EVA special isn't the flashy battles. It's the existential mirror it holds up to the viewer.
The Angels aren’t just antagonists. They’re reflections—of:
-
Fear of the unknown
-
The search for identity
-
Love and loneliness
-
The thin line between life and death
For those who grew up with Evangelion, the Angels became more than creatures. They became symbols of understanding, of feeling seen.
Building this keyboard isn’t just about crafting a cool gadget.
It’s a quiet ritual—connecting with something larger, turning abstract emotion into something tactile and real.
A Keyboard for the EVA Fan: Not Just Tribute—A Continuation
If you love Evangelion, you already understand:
This story was never just about robots or angels.
It was about chaos giving way to meaning.
About loneliness, and rage, and transcendence.
Sachiel is our tribute—and our promise.
At KBDcraft, every release will keep pushing forward this intersection of world-building, modularity, and self-expression.
If you’ve ever held your breath when an Angel descended…
If Unit-01’s berserk moment made you tear up...
Then you’ll hear it too.
The heartbeat of this keyboard.
Sachiel is not just a keyboard.
It’s a playground for mech fantasy lovers.
A collector’s relic for Evangelion fans.
A command center for creators.
A fusion of mechanical design and human imagination.
KBDcraft never copies itself.
Each model is a brand-new experiment—a blank slate and a bold leap.
Boyu believes if a brand stops challenging itself, it becomes hollow.
That’s why every “Angel” we design starts from zero—with its own shape, its own logic, its own myth.
Sachiel is here.
Built on the philosophy of break-and-rebuild.
Made not to please everyone—but to speak to those who know.
If you love building.
If you’re drawn to machines.
If EVA is more than just a show to you...
Then this keyboard belongs on your desk.
It’s not a tool—it’s part of the ritual.
A physical input terminal for your imagination.
A sign that another Angel is on the way.
Sachiel has descended.
The next one is already approaching.
