At KBDcraft, we’ve always believed that a keyboard is more than just a tool; it’s an extension of your personality. Just like Sachiel in Neon Genesis Evangelion, outwardly cold, yet with an indescribable loneliness and resilience deep inside—this is the spirit we wanted to imbue into Mini-fig Sachiel.

Of course, the idea of building such a small but powerful presence out of Lego bricks was enough to get us excited, just like Shinji Ikari logging into EVA for the first time.

The Inspiration Behind Mini-fig Sachiel

The birth of Mini-fig Sachiel wasn’t an overnight thing.
Boyu, KBDcraft’s designer, embarked on a long and thrilling journey the moment he first sketched out the concept.
“How can I use the simplest Lego structures to convey Sachiel’s iconic mystery?” — this was the question he kept asking himself, over and over.

Every part, every shape, every color combination, and even the subtle tilt of the arms went through countless iterations and refinements.
Boyu wanted Mini-fig Sachiel to capture the cool aura of the original apostle, while also adding the warmth and fun unique to Lego builds.

In the end, the tiny figure that emerged combined sharp, defined edges that exude strength, along with a bit of that “romance only true builders would understand.”

As Boyu said:
“Sachiel isn’t a cold character. Like many of us, it appears strong on the outside, but inside, it’s lonely. And Lego, at its core, is a game of finding connections in that solitude.”

Mini-fig Sachiel was built with that very spirit, piece by piece.

Why Sachiel First?

From the very beginning, KBDcraft had a small dream:

When the time came to create the first Mini-fig character, Boyu didn’t hesitate—he chose Sachiel. Not because it was the strongest or the most complex, but because it symbolizes the “first contact,” the brave hand reaching out, the first attempt and exploration.

This emotion perfectly matches the purpose behind the Mini-fig series’ creation. It’s the beginning of an adventure, a small confession between the screen, the keystrokes, and the Lego build.
Sachiel, with its first dose of courage and passion, became the first companion in the series. It’s both the starting point and the deep emotional bond we share with every Mini-fig to come.

The Design Challenge of Mini-fig Sachiel

The biggest challenge Boyu faced when designing Mini-fig Sachiel was how to faithfully capture Sachiel’s spirit and appearance within the tiny world of Lego bricks. This wasn’t just a Lego build challenge—it was a battle of emotions and details.

First, Sachiel’s distinctive shape and mask design required careful attention to detail. The geometric structure and unique design had to be conveyed as accurately as possible within the limitations of the Mini-fig size. Every detail wasn’t just about replication; it was about capturing the essence of Sachiel as the mysterious apostle, with its power and the unknown force it brings.

Next, incorporating emotion into the face and body movements of the Mini-fig was another big challenge. Sachiel isn’t just a figure; its presence needs to evoke the shock and courage of that first encounter every time you interact with it. Boyu had to continually adjust and refine the model to ensure that every Lego piece could convey these emotions to the fullest.

This wasn’t just a design task—it was an emotional refining process—how to bring a tiny Lego character to life with big emotions. After countless trials and adjustments, Boyu finally created a Mini-fig that not only had a visual impact but also depth of emotion.

And that’s the Mini-fig that Boyu brought to life—not just a miniature version of Sachiel, but the beginning of the Mini-fig series, filled with creative sparks and emotional depth.

Mini-fig Sachiel’s Hidden Details

If you look closely at Mini-fig Sachiel, you’ll notice we’ve hidden many thoughtful touches.

For example, the specially designed red disk on its chest, bold and full of power, pays homage to the iconic core of Sachiel in the original.
The shoulder and arm structures were also carefully constructed, with the black-and-white color scheme creating a sharp contrast—not just for visual impact, but to convey the tension and dynamics of battle.
The way the limbs are assembled not only maintains Lego’s inherent stability but also gives each detail a sense of liveliness and energy.

This time, we boldly used a minimalist color palette of black, white, and red:
Black represents the unknown and the deep; white represents purity and conflict; red, like a heartbeat, represents power.

All of this is to make Mini-fig Sachiel not just stand on your desk, but to truly "live" there.
As you build it, you might even find yourself imagining that maybe, just maybe, it’s quietly watching over you, shielding you from the unseen pressures and fatigue.
