I loved everything about the keyboard.Building it was not only fun but took me back to when I was young and built legos everyday.Eveything fit seemlessly and had no hassle with anything the switches and keyboard overall sounds amazing,andI love the layout of the keyboard aswell You get a lot for $70 and I would highly recommend.

positives:
1. i love tinkering with things, and this is a great example of a product you can tinker with. you can take it apart, if you are imaginative enough, you can probably add some extra bricks and make it ergonomic.
2. the sensor is sensitive enough that it won't leave you dragging your mouse repeatedly over the surface to get he cursor to move.
3. it matches my KBDcraft Adam

the negatives:
1. the scroll wheel is in a bit of an awkward position ( i knew this when i purchased it, but it's worth mentioning) and every so often, doesn't work correctly. for example, if i scroll down 1 click, it could scroll down a fraction of the page, or the entire page and there's no way of telling when it's going to happen. it could be a design issue or it could be a problem with my unit, either way it's worth calling out.
2. there's not enough travel on the left and right click buttons, to remedy this i have removed the 1x6 plate in between the buttons and the scroll wheel (yay, modification!)
3. there's no way to turn the mouse off. it would have been nice to have a switch to turn it off. even when it's on sleep mode, the red sensor light is always on

Awesome keyboard, it feels great, it was fun to build, and it looks cool too. The instructions were easy to follow, despite not being as good as L**o instructions. The only trouble I had was pins getting bent on a few switches, but it was easy to fix, and there were enough spares, I wouldn't have had to.

I got the keyboard with the red keys, getting this kit let me mix and match black and red caps for a unique set, plus I have a few spares left over, really good way to customize..

If you’re curious about split (or Alice-style) layouts or ortholinear keyboards, I think this is one of the cheapest ways to get a genuinely good experience.

I usually switch between a fully ortholinear 40% keyboard and a split row-staggered 75%, and the Israfel feels like it sits right in the middle of those two worlds.

This isn’t a fully ortholinear keyboard, and the layout is a bit quirky in places. The Enter key, for example, is honestly a little awkward to use at first—but I’ll probably get used to it. Tweaking the layout to fit your habits, or sometimes adjusting yourself to the layout, is part of the fun with keyboards like this.

Minor nitpicks
- The included blocks are third-party compatible parts
(That said, being LEGO-compatible is actually a nice touch.)
- The LEDs on the leftmost column of the right half are flipped north–south
(I’m guessing this is due to some implementation constraint?)

Fun to build and sounds amazing. The stabilizers were already lubed and tuned, so I didn’t have any ticking sounds. The linear switches are just right in feel and aren’t too light. The only issue is that a 1U Shift is advertised but not included :( Overall, I recommend.

The Israfel is both my first split board and my first ortho board and I absolutely love it. Since getting and building this kit in November 2024 it has not left my desk. From the building experience to daily use the Israfel is an absolute joy I cannot recommend it enough.

It's a birthday present for my turning 23yr old grandson...it's exactly what he asked for...just wish he'd warn me that he has to assemble it - all I could hear was rattling pieces...

As an avid lego fan, this keyboard was a dream come true for me. The keyboard came with all parts nessescary and was an enjoyable building experience.

Ordered for the first time from them. Product came in time especially during the holidays. I hope to buy more but i need to see more products.

Loving the low profile alice layout. No too loud as my per usual keyboards i own. Layout is a slightly bit different so i need to get used to hitting certain keys especially during gaming. The only minor problem i had was that the spacebar for the left side kept getting stuck. So i removed the Stabalizer and now it works fine. I dont know why it didnt work with the stabalizer on, but thats okay its something minor. In the end i think this is a good keyboard.

I love the building process (as a lego person), the sound is great as well. Delivery is a little slow but not really a problem for me. The keyboard is of great quality!

They're fantastic for my ID75 keyboard with GTMX half height switches. The only issue I have with those is that they lack certain keys for ortho layout and I had to order 2 sets to have the bottom row complete with 2 alt keys etc. Nevertheless, it's worth the price. And my keyboard now looks fantastic. I also own Israfel and I use some of these keycaps for it and it's brilliant. I do recommend purchasing from these guys. The quality is there, also the shipment was pretty quick and cheap as heck.

From cradle to grave, the entire process of investigating the keyboard I wanted to buy, getting all the additional accessories I would need, shipping, and dealing with the delivery companies was made easy.

Summary: You will be hard pressed to find a keyboard with as good of features, build quality, and ease of use for the same price.

I have been looking for several months for an entry level split keyboard, however, I was not willing to learn how to soulder, and I wasn't willing to spend more than $300 USD on a keyboard. In the end the combination of the price, and functions of the Israfel made it a no-brainer choice.

Criticisms:
I wanted a tru split keyboard. While I am able to disconnect the two sides of this keyboard, I'll need to purchase a sperate SH1.0 14pin cable to connect the two halfs (the only suppliers are in China and cost an arm and a leg to get to North America). Many split keyboards use a USB-C or TRS cable. I would recommend that KBDCraft adopt one of these two standards (whichever is cheaper).
Make sure to review the Vial Software documentation if you use a Linux computer, as there are additional steps you need to follow to get the keyboard to register.

Conclusion: If you are looking to get into split keyboards, I would put this keyboard at the top of your list. You may eventyually move to another keyboard, but this keyboard will help you "cut your teeth" first.
